Someone told me, "No one would read that book..." I asked the readers.
Sometimes a topic is hard, but hey- somebody has to say it- When do you cross the line from being the 'hero' to becoming the monster?
WHAT'S YOUR OPINION of The Fishing Trip
MT MathiesonI must admit to being a little uncomfortable with this story initially. Can murder ever be justified? However, as the nature of the town in which the story is set was gradually revealed, it became apparent that there was no other way. This is a well-paced story with enough action to maintain interest while at the same time providing enough background and character detail to enable the reader to relate on an emotional level. I liked the character of Roman so much that I'm hoping for a sequel so that I can meet him again. Another good read from Ey Wade.

Durham killed his abuser at the age of ten. As an adult and tired of pedophiles having free reign on innocent children, his fishing excursions are to die for. The Fishing Trip is a trial by water, execution and deliverance of retribution. Set in Shiningbal, Texas where the perverted go to disappear; sexual abuse of children is the norm and when the legal system only increases the violation, this isn't the time for redemption to play nice. Envelopes stamped with the large letters LDA and holding the simple words "Life demands action" have started appearing in the mailboxes, the explosion in the woods and the deaths of so called ‘good men’, hit just the right buttons and now every perverted child molester in this city is distressed. They all know what's coming. The thing is no one knows where their letter came from, so who can be trusted?"..... Growing up as an abused child himself, Durhan now considers himself to be an avenger of stolen innocence. Tired of pedophiles having free reign on innocent children, he decides to take the law into his own hands. He takes these criminals on an excursion and ends their obsession. With the help of Penny Brooks and the unsuspecting aid of the local sheriff, he returns to Shiningbal and confronts those who destroyed the lives of young children. In doing so he exposes a secret and sets off a chain of events that causes more chaos than he ever thought possible
I found this novel occasionally confusing in places - when the flashbacks are of characters with different names, it took me a while to connect the people together. But it was ultimately a satisfying read after the loose ends were tied and I came away realising that no matter how often you change your identity and start over, you can never escape who you are inside.
The Fishing Trip evoked a lot of emotions in me as a reader. This thriller goes to some pretty dark places but the author manages to execute the telling of the story without resorting to horrifying graphic details. Normally I like the graphic stuff, but in this case, my imagination will suffice.
Durham, or whatever name you want to call him by, is a special kind of hero, risking it all to save the innocent from the worst horrors you can imagine. It’s a unique tale of revenge; intricately layered as more and more players are revealed.
The resolution is bittersweet in that desired ends are met, but no matter how many tragedies are resolved and how many guilty parties are made accountable, the past and the scars it carries remain the same.
The underlying theme and the hero’s catch phrase, “Life Demands Action” continues to resonate within me and will for a long time, I believe.
Child Molesters Are Dead Fish In This Thriller
By Debra Johnson
This was a realistic tale of taking justice in your own hands. What stood out was the characters. I could feel their anger and taste their need for vengeance. You hate to sympathize with this varied group of outlaws but you find yourself rooting for them as they take child rapist off the roles of society. Ms. Wade has done her home work on this book. Five stars....a great read at a steal of a price. Highly recommend. A Perfect Read !!!!

Ms Wade, has shown the mastery that she truly has in the writing, construction, and execution of this book. It tells of how once you are something, no matter how well you try to mask yourself, the truth will ALWAYS rear its ugly head. The jumping back and forth works perfectly, as does all of the situations Ms Wade has created. I would highly recomend this book as a must read. I was unable to put it down, and felt a part of the story imbedding itself into me. 100% perfect !!!! A solid read, well-written and engaging.

A cleverly spun tale of retribution featuring a well-rounded cast of characters. It's clear the author has done extensive research on the subject of child abuse and is truly trying to make a difference with this book. I wish the nefarious nature of the town were explained a bit more but overall there was a nice balance of dialogue and exposition. A solid read, well-written and engaging. Can you ever escape your past?

This is a complex story dealing with complex issues. Wade cleverly intertwines past and present as we learn how the events of childhood shape the present lives of a family torn apart by betrayal and abuse. Just how far will one man go to exact revenge for the death of his sister?I found this novel occasionally confusing in places - when the flashbacks are of characters with different names, it took me a while to connect the people together. Always a Pleasure! By Cassondra
Ms. Wade has consistently satisfied my quench for reading with her words. Her stories are always centered on society's pulse of topics that need addressing. This story focused on child abuse and the way children are neglected, even though they are placed in a system that is suppose to protect them. As with all her stories, her foundations are realistic and occur on a daily basis. The characters, through the use of unorthodox methods, expose a small town for the wrongs that have been done to children for decades. I always feel satisfied after I am done reading her stories and applaud her again for not disappointing me!Robin Bee Owens: Could be a good TV series
Valerie Bowen: Every town needs a Mason.
In this novel pedophiles have no chance. I loved the way the author creatively disposed of the evil trash that surrounded and preyed upon innocent children. Mason was a victim when he was young and took it upon to protect the children of a small fictitious town in Texas. Prominent men within the town felt untouchable...that is until they started dropping like flies. Lawmakers soon realize even they have a breaking point and his name is Mason. I give this book five stars for the creativity alone. Ey Wade has taken payback and justice to an entirely new level.
A lot of twists in this story - a must read. Ey Wade is such a talented writer. Can't wait to read more from this author.

A true page turner showing the need for justice and the prevention of crimes. The justice system doesn't always work for the abused. Sometimes a defendants gets off on a technicality. There are occasions where the abused are too frighten to testify. Wade created a strong and riveting read full of thick plot lines and solid characters.- Author of Sarah's Secret

Life Demands Action. Yes, it certainly does. When the legal system fails a town of children who are being preyed on by pedophiles, a few citizens (one in particular) decide to take matters into their own hands. I won’t say that this is a “feel-good” book – it isn’t, but Ey Wade manages to capture the wide range of emotions that come to surface when people cannot depend on “the powers that be” to do the right thing. Rage, denial, guilt, sadness, hopelessness…you will find it all in this small, Texas town. I found myself being able to relate to different characters in this book – and some characters I wanted to throttle with my own hands. One character who surprised me was Vivian. As a mother myself, I found it hard to believe that another mother would handle herself the way she did after she found out such devastating news. Also, Vivian’s parents did not react in a way my own parents would have. Let’s put it this way, if anyone were to ever touch my children in a harmful way, I would kill them. If I didn’t get to them first, my father would. I enjoyed this book. Durham was my favorite character. He was like an onion with many layers that kept being revealed. I love it when a character has depth. I love it when you think you know a character and you end up not knowing them at all! There were many surprising twists in the story. The sad part about it is that it’s totally believable and has happened many times. I’m so glad Ey Wade’s book sheds some light on this very serious topic.
