It's been a while, thank you for being faithful and returning. Today, LaSuria Kandi Allman interviews Veteran Radio and Media Personality Terri Avery.
Radio Personality and Programmer, Inspirational Speaker, Soul Coach, Author, Wife, Mom, and Celebrator of Life! Terri Avery believes Faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you do not see.
A native New Yorker, raised by a single mom, Terri believed in a dream. She didn’t know how it was going to happen, but believed, and stayed in faith. Venturing out of the jungles of NYC and landing her first full-time radio job at KKDA radio station in Dallas, Texas, Terri worked her way up from an on-air personality to Assistant Program Director. Passionate about growing her career in radio, Terri took over programming duties at KMJQ in Houston, Texas. Then proving she is a successful programmer and contender in the radio game, KKDA brought her back to Dallas, as Operations Manager.
Pushing the envelope on her career, Terri went to work as a Record Promotions Representative for Mercury Records, promoting the musical careers of Brian McKnight, Vanessa Williams and others under that label. Radio programming is her passion so Terri took the Director of Programming position at Radio One in the Baltimore-Washington area. After 4 years at Radio One, Terri took a position with The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) as a Radio Coordinator educating programmers. Programming was still in her blood, she left the NAB for a Program Director position in Columbus, Georgia. From Columbus, Terri went on to Charlotte, NC, as Operations Manager and Program Director for CBS Radio.
No matter where Terri was, her love for the community and building a base to raise her daughter, flourished. Building better communities through the power of radio was a commitment Terri realized a long time ago.
Terri is a celebrated radio personality and programmer and has won several radio industry awards. Terri is a dynamite inspirational speaker that leaves you motivated and inspired to do and be the best. She has recorded an inspirational CD titled, Inspiration Unplugged: Faith, and hosts a radio show on iVybe radio.
