Today, In the Hot Seat, we meet Celebrity Dame: The Rap Critic Who is Reinventing the Carolina Indie Scene.
He first fell in love with hip hop after hearing Little Brother’s record “Light It Up” for the first time at 14 after moving to Raleigh, North Carolina. Influenced by 9th Wonder, Ski Beatz, J. Manifest, Phonte, Big Pooh, and other legendary NC icons, Dame decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry.
After years of hits and misses, he finally found his true passion, writing, film, and teaching. He is currently co-founder and blogger for the most popular hip hop website in the Carolinas PoundsofSound.com .
For years Dame noticed how the Carolina indie scene was
suffering from countless dry-spells, in which there has been a limited
amount of deals cut, underexposure, a lack of quality, and ineffective
processes. While others in the game went on and ignored these issues,
Celebrity Dame saw this as a major problem in Carolina and came to the
rescue. Some hate him, while others love him. However, Celebrity Dame is
a MAJOR key in the resurrection of the North Carolina hip hop market.
He has continually used his blog to not only educate artists, but to
also give exposure and light to the musicians who deserve a shot.
Follow Celebrity Dame on all social media networks. For more info, contact Tangi at iMerge1@aol.com
