Thank you all for returning to another session of In The Chair. Today I would like you to get to know a little about  meet James Gordon. I follow him around on the social networks. He's a really busy guy with a lot to say and share.

James Gordon is an international award winning author and poet, as well as a champion storyteller from Chicago.

He can be seen on episodes of Shameless, Chicago Fire, Chicago PD, Chicago Med, and Empire. James can be found at his website iblowyourmind.net and on Twitter at gr8estpoetalive.

Please enjoy the interview, check out his books and poetry and leave a shout out in the comments. Let's get started.

Hi James, tell us- when did you start writing, and what did you write about?
I began writing in 2007 in a very enclosed setting. Poems were what I was writing until they became my first book, The Confessional Heart of a Man.

What is the difference in your perception between now and the time you started writing?
When I first started, writing was an escape and therapeutic. Now, when I write is towards an audience of supporters and to bring me closer to greatness and immortality.
Please write a few lines about the books you have published, and what brought you to publishing each one of them.
The Confessional Heart of a Man: Gritty, straightforward poetry with no organization. It was therapy for a million issues that I had.
The Book of 24 Orgasms: My first journey into the sensual realm of Poetry. Was told that I couldn’t do, but I did.
The Mind of a Poetic Unsub: This was an exercise in flexing poetic muscle. I pulled every style that I’m adept at and placed them in this collection.
Revenge of the Orgasm: This made a lot of marks for me. It was me telling of my sexual adventures without telling everything.
Epic. Hi MY Name is Bobo: This was a dare from a buddy of mine to depart from the sensual work I had done previously. Now it has become a thing.
The Warmest Winter: My first novel!!! This made me realize that writing a novel is not an easy thing at all. But once it was done,I was proud. Working on followup and wrote a poetry book with the same title.
Angelica’s Box:Poetry Book of the Year for 2016. A collection of poems written from two different personas, G.P.A.’s and PIzzle’s.

What are you writing about now and why are you writing this book?
In my James Gordon persona, I am working on “Here Comes Bobo”, a continuance of “Hi, My
Name is Bobo”(A Weekend in the Life of a 5th Grader).

Tell me, how do you go about writing your books? Do the ideas just pop in your head or do you have to plot and plan?
Ideas pop in my head, I write those ideas down, begin to organize them towards a central title and theme, write, rewrite, have it edited, then publish.
I’m having a bit of a hard time marketing my books. What are your techniques and do you feel they are working?
I promote everywhere and anytime. You don’t want to over saturate social media, but you have to create a presence that no one can ignore. Blogs, like this one, are very important.
I'm glad to hear you say that about blogs. I tend to think I get to know an author, person better after reading an article as compared to a tweet or short post.
Where can the audience purchase your books?
www.iblowyourmind.net and Amazon, Barnes and Nobles.
I have a habit of talking (interviewing) to the people in my books. How do you communicate with your characters?
I send them on their way to explore, and then they come back and have dialogue with me about their adventures.
Too funny. If I were to interview one or two of the characters from your novel what do you thing he/she would say about the role you put him/her in?
Do you think they would like the book? Bobo would enjoy the book he’s in, but would say that he needs more growth and room to breathe.
What hobby or activity do you enjoy other than writing?
I enjoy playing video games, reading, watching movies, and family time.
Thank you for your time and stopping over to chat with us here at IN THE CHAIR. It’s been fun. Much success in all your adventures.
Thank you so much for having me!!
